I had Covid in last November. It was very mild, 2 days in bed and I was apparently OK. But... 2 weeks after that, a panic attack (the first one in my life!). At the time, I was on fluoxetine (20 mg) for 20+ years, and I was OK, no crises at all that time! So, I increased my dose to 40 mg (as prescribed by my psychiatrist). In the first weeks, my appetite was zero - and I was just able to eat ice cream, yogurts and things like that.
Now, 3 months later, I feel better (less anxiety waves, sleeping better), maybe because of the increased fluoxetine dose. But I still have ups and downs, and ANY minor event (bad news, even an unexpected phone call) may act as a trigger. I feel afraid of making plans, since I'm always afraid of feeling bad in any unusual situation. I'm tired!
My psychiatrist thinks I should increase the fluoxetine dose again (to 60 mg). I'm afraid of the side effects (which usually come at the first weeks of an increased dose), but I think I have to give it a try!
Anyone who has benefitted from an increased dose of an antidepressant?

I had a relatively mild case of covid last June. Since then I've had various "long covid" symptoms, but a constant state of unfocused anxiety and "jumpiness" is one of the worst. I also flinch every time the phone rings (although it's usually someone trying to sell me a car warranty). Since I'm retired, my urgency to "get back to normal" might be less than yours. I have an appointment at a neurology clinic in April. I'm not currently on meds, but I just wanted you to know that what you're experiencing is not uncommon.
