Post COVID-19 impact on metabolism and weight loss

Posted by bsd @bdelsignore, Jul 26, 2021

I am a 61 year old women who had a moderate case of COVID and pneumonia in December 2020. Previously I was on a low carb high protein weight-loss diet with moderate exercise and strength training. I lost 15 pounds June 2020 - December 2020. After COVID I have not been able to lose additional weight despite the same weight-loss and exercise regimen. After 8 months, I am still at my pre-COVID weight. Could COVID have negatively impacted my metabolism making it more difficult to lose weight?

I had covid December 2022. About 3 weeks later i had hip replacement surgery. I gained weight in the spring and summer. Despite returning to my previous exercise routine, i have been unable to lose weight. I am watching what i eat and just recently added spin class to my exercise schedule. In the past when i gained weight it was only in the hips- i have gained weight in chest, trunk and belly ! I don’t know if it was covid or something else causing the weight gain, but my body is resistant to giving up the weight.
