Post aquablation

I just had aquablation 4 weeks ago and now I have an overactive bladder. Does anyone had this procedure done and had the same outcome?

Hey, I had Aquablation a few weeks back too and I'm also noticing some overactive bladder symptoms. Not sure if it's just part of the healing, but you're definitely not alone—curious to hear if others went through this and how long it lasted.

I have my first post op appointment this coming Thursday. I will keep you posted. BTW he prescribed oxybutynin for OAB. I had been taking it for two weeks and so far no changes.

I have had mine since March of this year. I am experiencing urgency and burning after urinating.

What do you mean by urgency? Always urinating? Or just when you sneeze , laugh or any sudden movement. That’s the only feeling I have now. No pain and burning of any kind. Regarding my appointment last thursday. He told me to be patient and recommend pelvic therapy.

Has anyone had post surgery scarring that has affected the direction of the stream? If yes, what have you done about it? Did it go away on its own and after how much time?

It's been 15 month since aquablation, my stream remains negatively affected.
My urethra is scarred and not improving.
I still have pain when urinating, and suffer with endless UTI issues.

I had an Aquablation in Feb 2024. Hat to wear a catheter for 7 days, lots of blood. Got it out and still had blood for about 7 more days, but got clearer each day. Bleed a lot more that was told. All was fine until Sept 2024 and the urine flow went back like prior to surgery and I restarted Flowmax. Still on Flowmax.
Finely yesterday went back to surgeon and he did a scope, said there was narrowing in prostate. I ask it that something that grew back after the surgery. His answer was no, Aquablation just doesn't remove as much tissue. I ask why they didn't remove more tissue and didn't really get an answer, well he did say they could do another surgery. I just couldn't get a clear answer why just all of a sudden after 7 months, things went down hill or why if that wasn't new growth and it was narrow- why wasn't it removed initially. I have asked again via MyChart and not getting an answer. This is a training hospital and there was a resident there that I seem to think did some or part of the surgery, I really just don't know?? I do know they woke me up during the surgery and had me sign something ( I was so out of it not sure what it was I signed) and looked down and it wasn't my surgeon, I ask you ever done this before and got a reply of yes 30 times and then I was knocked back out.
Would not get another Aquablation, if I ever get another procedure believe it would be HoLep? Really disappointed in this response yesterday. This is a major school in Kansas and has a good reputation. Our family had great experience in past, but first time in this department. Feel at a lost what to do, but the Flomax does get me by for now.

did anyone here have a rezum in the past prior to the aquablation?

REPLY

No had a Urolift which wasn't any help, but one person I know said the Urolift helped for a couple years. The place I went stopped doing Rezum in favor of Aquablation.

Good lord. They had you sign something mid-surgery? That’s a giant red flag. You need to find out what you signed and perhaps share that document and your experience with an attorney.
