Post aquablation

I just had aquablation 4 weeks ago and now I have an overactive bladder. Does anyone had this procedure done and had the same outcome?

@jaemiami your flow was good before aquablation?

@vtredwolf
Yes. Up to the point of the Aquablation I had good flow. My problem was extreme frequency.

Yes. It’s happening to me as well. From what I was told and read it’s common and expected for up to several months.

I had aquablation procedure in mid August. I am wondering if I should do Kegel exercises to strengthen my pelvic floor and further improve control of urination. Kegel exercises were never mentioned by my physician or his team. Could there be downsides to doing them?

@kocour It's my understanding that Kegel exercises are helpful, but they should be started six weeks or so after the procedure. Any kind of strain should be minimized to assist with the healing process.

I am seven weeks out of Aquablation. I am having an intermittent overactive bladder situation as well, sometimes I can go two to three hours without peeing at other times it's much sooner. I had a follow up appointment this week and I was prescribed Solifenacin 10 Mg. I haven't taken it yet. I don't want the confounding of healing naturally or due to the medication. UR said it's expected and that I am healing well.

@jaemiami any improvement with the overactive bladder. I am five weeks out and having some OAB intermittently as well. Doc today recommended Meds for it, but I too and split on whether to start or let the healing playing out, hoping it improves on its own??

At nine weeks out I can say it's also intermittently like you. Sometimes I don't have to go for three or two hours and sometimes I need to pee a lot sooner. But, for me it' s big improvement and I am hoping it gets better. Doc prescribed medication as well. I haven't taken it yet. I would like to know that I am improving on my own and not due to meds.

@jaemiami thank you! When you say "big improvement" do you mean it has been improving during recovery or an improvement compared to pre-surgery?

REPLY

Big improvement for me is that I used to have to pee with urgency every fifteen to thirty minutes compared to what is slowly occurring now. In addition, it was clear nonproductive urine; in other words, I was not urinating the necessary waste products and toxins. I was on a path to kidney disease.
