Possible flareup of fibromyalgia after nerve ablation in lower back.
had a nerve ablation of the L3, L4 and L5 a couple of months ago. Since then have had a severe flareup of my fibromyalgia. Has anyone else experienced any of the same? The pain is worse in left hip and down left leg to ankle but i pretty severe in feet and and other body parts. I currently have been prescribed gabapentin 600 mg three times a day, 50 mg tramadol twice a day and just was started on Memantine 10 mg once a day to increase to 10 mg twice a day if no imrovement of pain. All prescribed by the pain management Dr that performed the ablations.

I need help to deal with restless legs and body!🥵
tmgroan123 & shoey, Anything that is done to your body (at least I find) causes a flare with the fibromyalgia. It
takes time for your body to calm down. I am so sorry you are in a flare....it's miserable.
I was put on Flexeril 5 mg years ago for restless legs and it worked greatly for me. See what your doctor
thinks. I only took it at night. Also, Magnesium glycinate is good for restless legs and Voltaren Gel rubbed
on your legs at night. Soaking in Epsom Salt in the tub also helps with pain and helps you to relax.
I hope some of these ideas work for you two. Praying for you right now....I empathize. Blessings....
I already take flexaril tmg for restless leg at night. I also take magnesium calcinate at night for heart PVCs. Haven't tried the voltaren anywhere except back and wrist. I'll try it on my legs and feet. Thanks for replying and every suggestion helps. I'm am miserable.
I sleep with a pillow under my legs and change its position thru the night to between my legs or under one leg. I am on pramipexole (sifrol) which I take 2 hours before bed, during the day the only thing that helps me is walking as long as I can around the house, I can't go out walking for long due to other health issues. My problems started when I was pregnant 52 years ago. There is no cure all unfortunately but what I am doing does help me to a degree, I still nearly go crazy with it at times!! It's trial and error to see what helps you. Good luck finding what helps you.
I recently had the same ablation and my fibro has been flaring more often since. Have appt to see if I got an infection or inflammation after procedure.
Klonopin helped me when nothing else did.
Thank you for your reply. I see my pain management Dr on the 19th and will ask about that drug.
I feel for you! It's terrible when you can no escape the pain. Hopefully this new med will help. I just increased to twice a day and the pain does seem to be letting up a bit, but I feel woosie headed.
I don't think I have infection, as my back is better, just the hip and feet pain is thru the roof.
Stress and bodily injury both increase my fibromyalgia/restless leg syndrome pain. My pain has grown exponentially following 30 rounds of radiation near tail bone and hip femur joints plus 2 rounds of chemo.
There is no cure. My body doesn’t react well to drugs, so I just do my best to manage pain. I Elevate legs above heart for short periods throughout the day. Leg/groin/foot self massage with thumper mini pro hand held massager provides temporary relief. I try not to stand in 1 position for more than 15 or 20 minutes. Exercise also helps.
