Portable Oxygen Machines

I'm currently using Inogen One G5 but don't feel all the comfortable with it. Does anyone use one that they really like? If so, please share.

What is it about the G5 you don’t feel comfortable about? Have you been tested while walking with it to see whether it keeps your saturation levels at or above 90%?

Do you find it too big and heavy? Sone folks use a small cart to help carry it about. Personally, I prefer a OxyTotes backpack and often wear it backwards so I have access to controls.

I do find it heavy. And I don't feel I get enough oxygen with the pulse flow. My levels definitely drop when using it and it takes a while for them to go back up.

The problem is that the POCs which produce more O2 are even heavier than the G5.

A good chart of available machines is here.

Some folks prefer a cart to wheel their POC or even a tank with or without a cart to provide more O2 for them.

Thank you! I had not seen this and it's very informative.

Runningonair.net has lots of great information about oxygen and LOCs in particular. The founder is a wonderful woman who uses a G5, like me.

Additionally, there’s a monthly OxyTalk discussion moderated by a very experienced RT. I attend it as often as I can. They have guest speakers and a variety of topics and often dozens of participants.

I have a Rov 6(replaced G5) and I bought the backpack and it definitely distributes weight better and feels less heavy than on the shoulder strap. I hadn't thought of wearing it backwards to have access to controls, good idea!

Yes, I much prefer being able to see the controls & easily turn the machine on or off. I can’t do that when wearing the backpack on my back but have no problems plus no tangled tubing when I wear my pack backwards.

I do wear it on my back when I want to be less obvious that I’m wearing it. Using the O2totes pack helps prevent me from getting a shoulder or tendon injury by having too much weight on one shoulder. I had injuries that are preventable.

I just got mine yesterday. I am only on oxygen at night and as needed. My home health nurse felt l needed something portable and after testing my pulmonologist agreed. Sometimes the pollen count is high here and after the many wildfires we had statewide yesterday our air quality is very poor. These are the times and when l will be walking a lot that l will use it.
