Popliteal arterial Aneurysms
Hello, hope I’m on the right group, as was told .
I had a minor knee issue and an ultrasound was one of the tests order to rule out a blockage.
Results were fine , except popliteal arteries seem big and and one of them borderline aneurysmal . 1.90 cm
At 2cm has to be treated and closely watched
Dr. Ordered another ultrasound in a year to see if it has grown.
Anyone with same issue? Thank you.
Marta

I had an aneurysm that required open surgical repair earlier this year. Mine formed a blood clot which broke off and blocked blood flow in one of my lower leg arteries which is how it was discovered. Id definitely ask if you should be on some type of mild blood thinner such as a daily low dose aspirin to prevent clotting risk.
Thank you for your comment.
Yes, I take the low dose aspirin.
I had a 5 cm aneurysm in my popliteal artery. And an adjacent blood clot. They placed a stent once they cleared the blood clot, but then found one in my other leg as well. It was small at first, but then grew large enough to be stented as well. At this point, I only take low-dose aspirin and have regular ultrasounds.
Hi @mevans99 . Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I am glad you are here.
How long have you been dealing with aneurysm and blood clots? Do they cause you discomfort or pain?
