When in PMR remission: What's your experience with covid vaccine?

Posted by pacarolyn @pacarolyn, Oct 21, 2022

I have delayed getting any of the first Covid vaccines because I was waiting for the NOVAVAX vaccine that was more traditional in its development. It is now available and approved for use. Not many pharmacies have it but COSTCO does. Has anyone gotten this vaccine. What has been your experience so far. It requires two shots, no booster series mentioned but can be taken as a booster for other vax.

No issues with vaccines. I did get covid for the first time after working the polls last November, but it wasn't any worse than a 3 day flu. I tested positive for 2 weeks though!

Had covid shot yesterday. Typically I feel pretty bad for two days, but this time I took all the advice: ice on the arm after shot, Tylenol after the shot for the next 6 hours relief, then an Aleve for the 12 hours overnight. Really a big difference, and so far no side effects and I feel pretty normal. Glad I finally figured this out. I should add that I have GCA, on prednisone and Actemra, but Rheum doc said covid shot was OK to get. Costco pharmacist said OK so long as prednisone was less than 20mg. I am at 17.5.

Aftr three years on massive doses or Predisone (Ponticelli protocol for Kidneys), I finally weaned myself off, starting a year ago and ending last month. For the next four days, I felt more energy and clearer head. I then visited my Dr. for my annual checkup and he recommended I get the latest COVID shot. I felt a bit ill for just one day but my brain fog has returned and my energy is back where it was while taking Predisone. Don't know if there is a connection. I just know how I feel.
