platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, treatment options
Hi, My wife was diagnosed with Stage IV High Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer in May 2024. After debulking and 7 chemotherapy sessions she had her cancer in remission in Jan 2025. First follow-up tests, CT Scan and bloodwork, CA-125 at 70 in April 2025 indicates the cancer has reoccurred. We see the GYN Oncologist tomorrow. Has anyone had any experience with platinum resistant cancer recently had new therapy drugs or clinic trails in SW Michigan to fight the reoccurrence? I’m trying to find best treatment options for my wife. Thank you.

I have recurrent OC. I was able to have taxol and carboplatin several times before the cancer became platinum resistant.
Since then I have had Caelyx, which is PEGylated liposomal doxorubicin. It has been effective so far. I have had it for the third time since August last year.
I was first diagnosed in 2010. I have had more than my fair share of chemotherapy! Caelyx may be marketed under a different name where you live. I’m from Sydney, Australia.
@peregrine007 Welcome to our gynecological cancers support group on behalf of your wife. How kind of you to come here and ask about the experiences of others who have recurrent ovarian cancer.
I am tagging a few of our members @cipnsue @amywells @egins1208 @rdubins who I hope can share their experiences. Thank you to @jenelleseaman who jumped in quickly with her experience and suggestions.
You mentioned that you are in the SW region of Michigan. Is your wife being treated in Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo or is she being treated at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor? I ask about the University of Michigan because they are one of the National Cancer Institutes-Designated Cancer Centers. There are two in Michigan and the other is at Wayne State.

Thank you for the reply that is very helpful and encouraging.
I had 6 chemo with carbon plaxin drug before the OC cancer got resistant (ca125 at 250). Then had major hysterectomy done. Cancer still there but my CA125 to 106. But then when they were testing to seeing this new drug would work (mervituxim) my ca125 shot up back up 1063. Started this infusion of the 'targeted' mervituxim in Nov 2024. My ca125 numbers dropped quickly . After 6 infusions, I am at 23 for my ca125.
