places to stay in Rochester, MN

Posted by mckinney3711 @mckinney3711, 17 hours ago

I have an appt. coming up in August. We are looking for lodging. I know that at some places you can get a discount for being a patient. But are the discounts worth it or are there better options for places to stay? Looking for any helpful info.

To answer your question about discounts, yes many hotels offer Mayo Clinic patients a discount and flexibility if your schedule changes.

Right now Rochester downtown is in middle of multiple construction projects and driving and parking downtowns can be frustrating. So, if you pick a hotel that is either walking distance or provides a shuttle, you can avoid the hassle of parking. If you do plan on driving to appointment and parking, make sure you allow extra time. For information about construction on Rochester campus, see: https://www.mayoclinic.org/rochester-construction

We stayed at the Econo Lodge. If you aren't looking for fancy it's a pretty good place to stay. We ask for a room on the quiet side of the hotel away from the highway. They'll give you a shuttle schedule and we were impressed at how close to being on time the shuttle is. (shuttle is free)

Kahler inn is right across the street from Mayo Clinic. It also has free underground parking. It has a restaurant that is pretty good. You can probably find a fancier hotel but this one is so convenient. They do give a discount to patients. Shuttles also run from there.
