Peak Flow Meter?
Curious, does anyone here use a peak flow meter as part of monitoring their bronchiectasis? I know these are used with asthma which many here also have at the same time, and I see online that they can also be used with BE. Since I'm going through a decline in lung function (I think the decline is in the same number that the peak flow meter shows), elevated eosinophils, and a couple of viruses in the last few months -- plus having to stop the MAC antibiotic regimen due to minor hearing loss -- I'm trying to find all the tools I can to understand what is happening. I see my team at NYU this Weds so everyone is on the case. They don't think I have asthma but I'm not certain it's ruled out yet. I will be asking them about the peak flow meter also.
Thanks for sharing any experience here!

@lvnl - If they recommend a peak flow meter, ask them to establish your goal peak flow. I mark mine on the meter with a green Sharpie. And I place a red mark at the point they say I am in trouble and either need to call them or execute my exacerbation plan.
I only use my meter when I am experiencing noticeable changes in my breathing, doing it after airway clearance and while standing, as the respiratory therapist taught me. As a daily tool, the numbers are all over the place, and just give me another thing to worry about.
Have you been using a meter now?
Thanks so much Sue. I have never used a peak flow meter & am not using one now. I recalled hearing about this tool from a good friend with asthma and looked it up to see if they are used with BE. I can see how it can become one more thing to worry about! We'll see what Dr Addrizzo & team say on Weds.
