Pain in your left side rib cage area?
I have had pain in my left side rib area long before I was diagnosed with oHCM, (well over a year). I cannot lay on my left side as this causes the pain to worsen. I have had many tests done with no definite results, so I can only assume that the pain is coming from my condition. I had a chest X-ray a few days ago, and it did show an enlarged heart so maybe this is putting pressure on my lung and ribs? I also have lumps on top of my ribs on my left side only under the skin that are painful. My Oncologist told me that they were what she thought it was, (can’t remember the name), something that could be a side effect of long time testosterone use. Who knows. Maybe I’ll find out some day before I die.

Myocardial Bridging: There is a high prevalence of myocardial bridging (MB) in HCM, found in 30–50% of cases via angiography. The LAD is the most common site for these bridges, where the artery tunnels through the thickened heart muscle, causing dynamic compression during systole that can lead to angina and arrhythmias.
Had septal myectomy and unbridging of this artery 13 months ago. Still have chest pain but the area on my left side, which felt like I was hit with a bat, has not hurt since

3 Reactions@mike223 Could that be causing pain in the left rib area?
@dconner I would think so as I have not had the feeling since surgery. I was always sore and it felt like it was an extreme bruised area. This may not be your issue but it took me several test and trips to DIFFERENT cardio groups before it was found. I stress different because everyone wants to just manage symptoms. I was managed till I was almost dead with hardly any quality of life. The cleveland clinic missed the LAD issue even. It took a doctor that had explored everything he could to finally put me on a table and do an extensive heart cath. Later, I was maybe a month away from death before Vanderbilt operated. 3cm septum with obstruction to valve. Now measures 1.6 with no obstructions. I have not had another cath since surgery but I can sure feel the relief of pressure in the left side of chest.

2 ReactionsHi, I had pain in my left side under my lower rib cage for about six months. It turned out to be a large cyst on my left kidney. Had robotic surgery and was in the hospital over night. My urology team monitors every six months in case I develop additional cysts. Wishing you some good answers...all the best!
