Pain 3 months after operation donating my kidney: What to do?

Posted by anubhav007 @anubhav007, Nov 1, 2022

I am a 54 years old female. I donated one of my kidneys 3 months ago. I still feel pain in the place from where my kidney was taken. What options/treatments/diagnosis can I take?

@anubhav007, Welcome to Connect. Thank You, for being a living kidney donor. 🤍
Your surgery was 3 months ago and you have questions about pain in the area of your surgery. As a recipient, I had my own minor pains and questions at 3 months post surgery. They did go away over time, and I checked with my transplant team to be sure that they were a 'normal' part of the healing process for me.

I have located some Transplant Discussions where member donors have shared their experiences before, during, and after their living organ donation. You will find a wealth of valuable information scattered throughout these conversations:

@anubhav007, I have a few questions that can help others to understand your current situation. Can you describe your pains or when you notice them? What has your medical/surgery team had to say about this?

@tasher3433, @mauraacro, @cmael, @betsypuccirogers, @danhoe - I am tagging you to this discussion about your pain experience at after kidney donation.

Welcome @anubhav007
I would recommend that you contact the transplant unit where you donated your kidney. Hopefully, they can give you reassurance and help.
