Pac's/pvc's only when excercising

Posted by katiedash @katiedash, 1 day ago

Has anyone had pac's/pvcs only happen when up and doing physical things. Sometimes all it takes is for me to get dressed for the day. About a year ago I went to the my primary doctor complaining of being overly tired. One visit my pulse was in the 30s alarmed him he did an ekg right there and referred me to a cardiologist. I had a treadmill stress test and the cardiologist who did it said I was borderline needing a pacemaker. Thing is my personal cardiologist never agreed. I had the 48-monitor done and it found pvc's, some tachycardia, pac's. Still, she did not want to do anything. She did the two week monitor but that is when my primary doctor referred me to a new cardiologist. Talking to her she said I may need a pacemaker. But this week I will have a echocardiogram done, then on the 26th I will have a chemical stress test with them picturing my heart.
My new doctor recommended that I buy a kardia mobile and blood pressure cuff. That is how I found that my pvc's and pacs happen only when I am up and doing things. Which makes me nervous to exercise which I miss doing. I would love to hear what others have experience.

Cardiodoc says I have Bradycardia. Heart rate stays 45 to 55. Holter 24 hr. showed 39 when sleeping. He's upset and running amyloid tests making me radioactive for a day. My pulse has been 50 +/- for years before I met him. Holter found left ventricular arrhythmia- benign (mri) and no fibrillation. He doesn't like that either. My left atrium is "severly" enlarged. He never mentions that 🤷. I am so grateful that my cardiodoc is taking care of me.
I do very heavy yardwork daily and swim 4 miles a week. No pain, no symptoms.
Sometimes I feel weak. Last time I hadn't eaten enough. Sometimes dizzy. Could be low sugar. Sometimes really tired.
I read that your legs could feel heavy. Turns out my workboots were an extra 8 lbs.
I'm not young (77). Stuff must be going wrong with me. Maybe it's my heart. Maybe it has nothing to do with my heart. I am having the best and strongest time of my life, but everytime I get tired or dizzy, I get shook and think about heading for the ER. .....then it just goes away.
Last 2 times at ER, they found nothing (low HR still there) and $20K later each visit, sent me home saying "If you don't feel well, come back."
So I do my stuff, and lay down when I am dizzy or tired, (chicken soup?) until it goes away. This will work until it doesn't 🤷 🙂.

Thank you for sharing. Heart issues can be scary. The heart is what keeps us going. I am only 55 and the main wage earner. While being a Christian I would love to see Jesus. But I have a lot going on here to feel like I am ready to go. I take care of my disabled spouse, have autistic daughter who is 32 and living at home and a 19-year-old son in college.
I went to the ER many times also, to be told I am fine, but they always found my bradycardia. 'I was laying there, getting me up and doing a lot and then they would see the pvc's and pac's. We cannot live our lives laying down, sitting still. That is not healthy. If there is nothing major wrong with my heart, I am going to have my doctor help me with a safe exercise program. Or even after we find a solution to keep my heart going right, I am going to do the exercising program. I was over 300 lbs at one time. I had stomach bypass got down to 120 now I am going wrong direction again. But I am scared to exercise.
I just want to be healthy so that I can continue to work and take care of my family.

Sorry both of you are going through this. Have any other treatments been tried, like anti arrhythmic drugs or ablation?
Does the heart rate go up with strenuous exercise, not just moving around?
Have electrolyte levels been checked?
Just my own opinion but I’d be wary of any dr who starts out pushing pacemakers and gadgets right off.
Maybe consult with an EP if you haven’t already.
Best wishes to both of you.

No treatment was recommended, but lots, I mean lots of blood tests. I will see the doctor after my next two tests. Now that I know there is a possible medication I will ask about it. The only reason this last doctor mentioned pace maker is because that's what I mentioned. I think this doctor, as long as I do not have any blockages or the like will recommend meds before pacemaker.
But yes my pvc's and pac's get worse with physical activity and stress. It does not take much to get them going.

Yes, stress is a big one. I too have PVCs and pacs and I know stress absolutely contributes. So does physical pain or illness.
You mentioned having a weight problem and some sort of gastric procedure. Could those things be related?

REPLY

They could. I have a bleeding ulcer because of my weight loss surgery. But my doctors know about it. I am keeping better track. You should see my medical binder I take with me. My gastroenterologist knows about my heart issues. To put me under to have my endoscopy/colonoscopy they had to give me meds to speed my heart up a bit as it tends to go bradycardia on me. Neither my cardiologist nor my gastroenterologist connected the two things together.
