Osteoporosis quite severe if I started hrt now will it help . I am 74

Any other woman of a similar age to myself with osteoporosis found hrt helpful quickly? I am just so scared of the other drugs. I have had no fractures yet but I feel they are imminent !!

I went to the appt today and was given the information but I’m thinking about it because although it may help with the osteoporosis there is really no firm evidence. Done have shown improvement but that is based on findings from the women’s health initiative from a couple of years ago. I will not decide if I will do any osteoporosis meds until I speak to my dentist in July.

Thank you for your reply. Your message gives me hope that I'll do ok with evenity. I have to build bone. I've had bad effects with the first set of shots, but praying I'll do ok with second. I fear jaw decay , stroke, joint pain and fractures. I have a bad headache, soreness, pain in hips, back and thighs and my neuropathy is worse after first set. You have been on all these osteoporosis meds and did well. That is encouraging. I wish you well.

I fear all the same things. I started Teriparatide in Sept, 2024.
I have some of the same symptoms, a little milder . It is the generic for Forteo, which has been around for 20 years, Evenity is new. Can you try Tymlos, Forteo, or what I take?
I take every other day. I have fatigue and body and joint pain, constipation. Trying to swim, walk and workout to alleviate the fatigue.
I'm trying to stay on it for at least a year, hopefully longer. My bone density increased about 18% in 8 months. I paid for a bone density test OOP because I didn't want to go thru the pain for nothing. Since it's working, I going to push thru as long as I can. I hate having to do any of this. It's like we are punished for being women or small boned and petite in my case.

@tiny28 I am 73, have terrible scores and have not been able to tolerate any suggested meds. My last efforts was with Forteo, which is a biologic that doesnt stay in your system long. I had a severe reaction that took over 30 days to get under control.
I started taking Fortibone, a collagen peptide about a year and a half ago, no longer feel that frail, I am going to break at any minute feeling and my last dexi improved.
I had a hormone panel blood draw today and have an appointment with a gyn next week to discuss HRT, most specifically testosterone, as research has shown that it is a big player in bone growth.
There are a few companies that carry collagen with fortibone in it. Sparkle Wellness, AlgaeCal and Kevin Ellis, the bone coach. Kevin provides a lot of helpful information. Of course, he wants paid clients but he does a lot of good informational podcasts and such. Bonecoach.com. Also, make sure your diet is calcium rich and you do weight bearing exercises. I hope some of this information is helpful.

I have never heard of the med you're on. Is this an injection every other day? I get my second set of eventity next Wednesday and I'm petrified. My mindset is a wreck and alot of anxiety. The body and joint pain, headaches, dizziness are bad. I have to build bone & all of these meds are risky. I read so much of these posts are many are negative which scares me. Like you said, the fatigue is hard and the pains. I so exercise the best I can, walk, take calcium , d3, k2 and proteins. So glad your bone density increased, that's wonderful, the med is working. I will ask my Dr about your medicine. I wish you the best.

And I'm small boned and petite too. I'm going to push through as long as I can too . I want to get better. And pray no jaw decay or strokes. It states small percent, less than 1 , will experience these . God Bless.
