Hello @keith300, Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I'm wondering if it may be a result of trauma to the nose when you were playing sports. The following article mentions a Septal nose perforation can sometimes cause pain in the bridge of the nose as well as some swelling and bleeding.

No planning on seeing my local doctor
Could the nose been broken at the time of trauma
It seems like it may be a possibility of nose damage of some sort due to trauma but only a doctor can say for sure and probably after some tests and exam.
