Nodule on Lung

Posted by lgk2948 @lgk2948, Nov 13, 2023

During a review of my latest CTscan, my Urologist told me my kindneys were clear, but, noted a Nodule on my lung and suggested I contact my pulmonologist. My pulmonologist said it was nothing to worry about. I had a nodule on my kidney removed 7 years ago which prove to be cancerous, but the kidneys are fine now. I am concerned about this lung nodule, but, my dr doesn't seem to care. Anyone else had this experience with a lung nodule.

Yes. I was diagnosed with a 2mm lung nodule on my right lung last week after a CT scan. Pulmonlogist does not seem concerned per her my chart notes. No scarring and lungs were clear. I was told this is very common. I have had a lot of bronchitis and pneumonia in the past year. I see her in a few days for followup. Praying for you. I can understand why you would be concerned. Blessings & Hugs....

I had a couple “micro nodules” populate on CT as part of an eventual post-Covid asthma diagnosis a few years ago. Pulmo team here in Atlanta was not concerned … told me tiny nodules are exceedingly common (especially after illness or respiratory event). They input nodule sizes, my age, smoking status, BMI and general health into a program and insisted these little nodules had less than a 1-in-10,000 chance of ever becoming cancerous if I lived to be 100.

lgk2948 - Welcome to Mayo Connect- Lung nodules are very common. I am very relieved to hear that your kidneys are fine. But, since you have a history of cancer brushing off any nodule in another part of your body is a bit cavalier.

I suggest you get a second opinion.

I misunderstood my Dr, he has set a CT Scan for my lungs. I reacted to my fears, rather than listen with my ears.

Merry, you make a very good point. Knowing I have multifocal lung cancer, I now pay close attention to other health issues - like keeping to the colonoscopy schedule, evaluating uterine issues. After investing so much in controlling my lung cancer, it would be really stupid to miss something else that could have been handled easily if addressed in time.
