Nocturnal polyuria: any advice?
I have the urination issue of peeing volumes whenever I fall asleep, even if its noon and for 30 seconds. I had renal stents installed last June 2025 and for four months prior, I was taking BP meds that started this nightmare. Im no longer on the meds but the urinating is the same. My life has been a nightmare since.

Do you suffer from Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA)? Sleep apnoea causes Nocturnal Polyuria (NP) due to increased secretion of atrial natriuretic peptide, which induces a natriuresis. First step should be that you talk to your doctor about this possibility.
Good luck!

1 Reaction"BP Meds" doesn't mean anything. You mean BPH ( for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, non cancerous enlarged prostate, and can sometimes be BPE for Benign Prostatic Enlargement).? Or do you mean Blood Pressure medicine?
Some people use tamulosin for improved general blood pressure. The actual medication you are/were taking is what is needed to answer your question because different medications have different side effects.
@deanhobart that is why I try to avoid acronyms &/or abbreviations, unless I first pair them with the full phrase (as you did in your response). Thank you. Let’s see if the author of this discussion returns?

1 ReactionOne other item that would help get a resolution for you. It is hard to tell if you are saying that the meds (whatever they were) caused your current problem or if it was just coincidence that the urination problem followed. They might not be related and then you can look at other things like possible sleep apnea, because it would be important to know if the doctor said they were the cause, and so the doctor stopped them, or if they were really only meant to be taken as you recovered from installing the stent. Knowing what the drugs were and why you started but then stopped will go far to see how to fix your problem. It might be that you experienced known side effects that other drugs might not have. The important thing is to not get discouraged. Doctors are called practitioners because they practice on you to see how your individual body and specific health conditions compare against "standard" treatments based on averages.
