A friend of mine in discord, thank you 🦭✨

Hey there, I have my EEG results back in New Year of 2021 which I dunno how to read. Consulted to a general hospital for a neurologist and gave me Vaneular & Lamotrigine prescription for the first impression of my health issue and was told I may have some type of epilepsy, which kinda weird cuz it only occurs when I’m asleep, tired or stressed within the day. Not ever knowing about when it started just my mum slept beside me and told me I have hypnic jerk which never occured before. I wasn’t well aware of it and I don’t feel them while asleep.

This neurologist told me if the medication she gave me didn’t help I have to undergo MRI then she can tell wedah I need higher dosage of the previous ones or what meds I actually need.

The 4 hour monitoring wasn’t true and it only took us 1 hour to examine my brain waves. An hour costs approx 120$. I barely afford to go to a real Specialist.

Regarding your hypnic jerks, they are quite common and usually not a cause for concern. However, it's important to rule out any underlying medical conditions that may be contributing to them. Have you considered getting a second opinion or seeking further testing?

By any chance did you have a head or spinal cord injury before these started? I recently injured my neck lifting weights, and I had hypnic jerks every night when drifting off to sleep. I had 3 or 4 a night for about a month. It was difficult falling asleep during that month. Eventually they started to wane, and currently I have only 1 about every other night. It has been 4 months since my injury so I’m hoping they eventually disappear.
