New to paired kidney transplant: Any advice or support welcome
My wife's GFR is 16....I am willing to donate one of my kidneys in the paired kidney program for her...she also has some blockage in her heart which when they put a stent in, the contrast dye while probably make her kidneys fail completely...any advice/support would help. I feel like we are just starting a long tough journey. Thank you. God bless

Hi,
I will 100% suggest you go to Mayo Clinic, and at the same time vouch for the care they provide. I say this as a recent recipient of a living kidney transplant (8/26) at their Jacksonville, FL location. Each and every person we've encountered has been informative, positive, and at no time, did we ever feel rushed - and I ask "a lot" of questions!
My wife donated a kidney on my behalf, through th NKR Donor Program in January, and I received mine in August. She is a nurse her entire adult life, was involved with heart surgeries early on, and she has said numerous times, "I have never seen and experienced a place like Mayo in my life". As a kidney transplant recipient, I will unequivocally state, if I ever have something serious, I will gladly make the3+ hour drive to be seen by the Mayo Clinic physicians (and entire staff)!
