Posted by cindypekarek @cindypekarek, Dec 19, 2017

Hello My name is Cindy I have what they call Partial Complex Seizures I am now on Briviact which has stopped all seizure stress and other symptoms that are prone to my kind of seizures. The fact being is that I no longer am having Partial Complex seizures or psycho Motor Seizures.

Hi Cindy, wow, it sounds like BRIVIACT® (brivaracetam) is really working well for you. @stayfree mentioned a while back that she couldn't tolerate the side effects of brivaracetam.

Have you noticed any side effects? How long have you been taking this medication?

@cindypekarek, I've been in the Loss and Grief group for a while maybe two three weeks. Great people there.
I was wondering about the seizures I've been having, with two in Feb. I think they must be stress related but I had one a month or two before. I was driving to town when an electric zapping started going across my forehead and I turned around could hardly drive, made it to my chair and soon went unconscious. My wife found me and I don't know how long I was gone. She was in the other room watching tv. She told me I'd had a seizure.
The ones in Feb. were obviously, to me anyway, caused by my wife ghosting me on Feb. 1. The doctors at the hospital didn't think much of my theory, it being caused by my wife's action. Most stressful day of my life really. One event after another all afternoon. I went into shock and was stuck to my office chair until about 5:30 am when I knew something was really wrong and called for help. The paramedic in the ambulance yelled out after she was done with testing me, I was about half conscious, "Holy crap man are you trying to kill yourself?" Later I woke up in a hospital bed and they wouldn't let me go home.
Just giving this because you mentioned "seizure stress", could you give me info on that? Do you or does everyone go unconscious? I was gone for about 5-6 hours.
Thanks for any help
Mark

Wow I have discovered that stress and Anxiety go together since I have been on Oxygen since I was in the Hospital for seven days with Pneumonia I have not had any more seizures if you can get breathing therapy you may find that Oxygen is what you are lacking.

@cindypekarek,
Hi, I really don't understand what you mean by Oxygen is what you are lacking. The first time I had a seizure I was at a college graduation ceremony which are as exciting as watching paint dry, been their in my job, after the ceremony the chick wanted to go to the banquet in the school cafeteria. The place was worse than a Full Metal Jacket Heavy Metal so-called music concert. I knew something was wrong as I started seeing bright colored ping pong balls in my head. I got up to get some air and away from the noise, my wife followed me out and I went down. I woke in an ER and that was that except for the bill. I've had several since, and I think they are stress related. Doctors dismiss my theory as if I had no idea what happened.

The last one happened in mid Feb, and the doctor prescribed Lyrica at 100 mg, three times a day.

There was also a spinal thing which was like a cramping and would strike every several seconds. I would lose control of my knees and would fall if I attempted to walk more than a few steps. The sensation was like an electric shock which kept me awake for over 48 hours sitting in my chair without being able to close my eyes for more than 3 seconds, I counted. Anyway I finally realized I needed help and after I got in the ambulance I went out and woke up in the ER again.
Thanks for any ideas. I'm 67 years old and really don't need this.

Sorry to hear about your situation Mark. The first thing I’d say is to take what a doctor says regarding why you are having or not having seizures with a grain of sand. There are so many seizures and syndromes virtually anything is possible. Those ping pong balls must have been an aura. I have a friend in England and when he hears music he has a seizure. Since seizures can be caused by so many different things, maybe noise is a trigger for you. Stress is a very common trigger. Maybe you were tired, it doesn’t take much. Maybe a light flashed or flickered. I have had Epilepsy for 51 years and have had over 13,000 Absance, Focal, both Simple & Complex, Tonic Clonic & Status Epileptics. I Mostly have TC’s. I hope you get some control soon. Just don’t hold you breath for an accurate answer as to why.

@jakedduck1, 13,000 of these things??? I'm complaining because I've had about six, maybe more, I think I'm close.

"don’t hold your breath for an accurate answer" When I was in the ambulance and the paramedic was doing her testing and whatever I was about half conscious when she yelled, "Holy crap man are you trying to kill yourself?" I looked at her and said, "No". Then she told the driver to go faster, "We gotta get there quick." Still chills me but when I asked a nurse what she meant he replied, "Your vitals look good and you're stable." Maybe I'll find out April 18 as I've an appointment with the ER doc.

I'm trying to get strong again but still feel pretty weak from everything going bad in Feb. This is April?

Hoping you have the 13,000 problem under control because it's a freaky experience to me. Guess I'm learning something in all this so I'll keep an open mind.

@ Muppey This is Cindy again yes I have found out from Mayo that some of my seizures are caused from PTSD when I was a child I had the wind Knocked out of me and other issues that caused me to have Partial Complex seizures and Psycho Motor Seizures due to not breathing right I have not had a Grand Mal Seizure since I was 23 years old. So Mayo Clinic discovered that I was bringing on these seizures by not breathing correctly so since I have been on Oxygen due to having Pneumonia I have not had any more of these Partial or Psycho Motor Seizures I am able to breathe better if I tense up I still block the O2 from coming in although if I start to panic some how I start to breathe in the 02 from the tank and nothing happens I don't go into a Partial Complex seizure. My regular doctor told me the 02 has nothing to do with it if you are blocking your air way. I didn't know what to say to her. Now I know that the 02 picks up where I left off giving me what I need so I don't have any Auras.This is hard to explain since I am not a doctor I too have been to Grief Groups.

@cindypekarek,
One thing interesting about doctors seems to be their big egos. If they didn't think of it and it's not written in the journals, etc. Then it just can't be.
After my wife ghosted me there were a series of events related to that, which all occurred on the same day. After each event I'd go deeper into shock. It started with my wife never coming home from her appointment and then went downhill from there until I woke up in the hospital at 12:30 the following day.

I had a parade of doctors go through my room and I tried to tell them what the problem was, "A BROKEN HEART"! They waved me off and continued with their tests.
Stick to your guns and keep on breathing. If it works for you then who's to say it doesn't? My brother wanted me to work for him just 4-5 days after all this happened. I told him I was to weak and if I could get rid of this I'd do it now and go to work. It doesn't work that way.
Don't let them push you around and stick to what you know. The smart docs listen to their patient's.
