New here, 1.5 weeks post op Lobectomy….
Hello everyone and Thank you all for being here.
I was diagnosed with NSCLC, Stage 1b due to size.
Surgeon removed tumor along with RML.
Lymph nodes all benign, I am so grateful.
I will learn soon of treatment.
I’m hanging in there despite the expected pain,
Some difficulties with sleep as I see is common.
I’m walking, walking and walking some more, that really helps !
I don’t have any questions as of yet, hoping to help others if I can.
🙂

Best wishes for your recovery, you sound very positive and that’s a very big plus for your recovery, it’s still so soon after your surgery but I feel that you’re going to do great in no time, I know it feels wonderful to be rid of the cancer and getting a fresh start on life.
This month I am 3 years post RLL lobectomy and I can assure you, things are a much better after a month or two. I 69 at the time of my surgery and I was Stage 1a with no lymph node involvement

1 Reaction@daisydaysm welcome to Mayo Connect. It's great to hear that you are doing so well. I'm glad that you are able to get out and walk. That will help make you tired too, hopefully helping you to sleep. I'm sure it's difficult to get comfortable and to turn your brain off when it's time to sleep. Will you let us know if you need other treatments? There are many people here with a variety of experiences. I'm glad you found our group.

Thank you lls8000, I appreciate your kind message. Yes, walking I feel has helped my recovery, lowers risks of blood clots and such too. YES, has helped with sleeping as well, it has been hard to get comfortable but once I am, out like a light luckily.
Yes, I will, thank you…. And I’m glad that I found your group too!
@kenhorse
Hello Kenhorse and thank you, I so appreciate your message, I keep telling myself things get better! It’s good to know I’m not kidding myself !!! 😊 Thank you, We are quite similar in our surgery.
I had the robotic lobectomy surgery on March 3rd 2026. I’m 73 years old, at the time of the surgery I was stage 2b with no lymph nodes involvement. My Oncologist suggested that I should continue to one more year of immunotherapy once a months. Is there anyone can help me to make a decision or have to do the treatment for one more year? Thanks!
@paupau52 congratulations on getting through your surgery, it’s always elating to be over the worst and start moving forward with your healing process…you mentioned that staging was 2b with no lymph nodes involved, this is very positive news for you, the issue of continuing immunotherapy therapy suggested by your doctor is a tough decision and I understand how you feel, it’s truly difficult for anyone to advise you on your decision other than the doctor and your own heart. I’ve had two surgeries, first one a lobectomy and the second one was a wedge, in both cases I didn’t require further treatment, I know that as much as I want to survive as long as possible I won’t have any chemo for treatment because I’m almost 75 and I don’t feel that I will survive the treatment, perhaps I would try radiation therapy but that’s all, I pray that I don’t have to deal with anything but I know that it’s in God’s hands.
