Nerve Pain

5 weeks since lobe / lung surgery and I am still having a lot of nerve pain. If you experience or experienced nerve pain how long has it been going on or lasted? TIA

Exactly the same! I am six weeks post surgery (left lower lobe) and am in the same boat. I’ve been told it can take up to six months before you can get feelings back. However, looked into it -searched the web, I’ve been massaging it, also tapping on my tummy a tiny bit and this has helped my situation. Good luck with yours

@cathyrosa , welcome to Mayo Connect. Sorry to hear that you are having to deal with any of this! It sounds like you are well on your way to healing and recovery. Six weeks is still fairly early, so give yourself some time for healing too. Are you back to most of your 'normal' activities? How's your recovery been going?

Hi mamalinda61,
Last year I had my lll removed. My surgeon prescribed for me a topical nerve pain cream. I had to get it filled at a compounding pharmacy. The ingredients were: 5% ketamine, 2 % Amitripyline and 5% gabapentin. It worked great and a little went a long way! I can’t remember how long (4 months ? ) I used it until with her and my pain doctors permission I was able to get a thoracic nerve block. That then really helped. I hope this helps.

It’s been over 2 years for me and I still have nerve pain. I’m on Lyrica for it, but it doesn’t help much. The nerve pain odd more of an irritant. Not serious pain.

What exactly is NERVE PAIN and how does it manifest itself for you? Specifically nerve pain associated with lumbar spine issues. What exactly do you feel? Dull pain or sharp burning inflammation type pain like something is on fire? If you have been unequivocally diagnosed with a lumbar spine nerve issue what do you feel painwise and where? Does it make sense that a nerve issue from the spine would cause an intense burning feeling in the muscle attached to the top of the pelvic bone with no pain in the glutes or down the leg? It doesn't make sense to me.
