Need help understanding on what to do

Posted by tcasey2787 @tcasey2787, 1 day ago

I have been experiencing a range of symptoms that I am concerned may be related to dysautonomia or autonomic nervous system dysfunction. These include significant temperature regulation issues, where cold exposure quickly leads to numbness in my fingers and noticeable discomfort, as well as general sensitivity to cold environments. I also experience episodes of increased heart rate, shakiness, and anxiety-like physical symptoms that feel more physiological than emotional, particularly after using cannabis, where my body seems to overreact with heightened anxiety and cardiovascular sensations. I have ongoing issues with fatigue and feeling physically drained more easily than expected, along with periods of dizziness, feeling unsteady or “off balance,” and general difficulty regulating normal physical responses to stress or stimulation. I also experience intermittent pins-and-needles sensations. I had my appendix removed in January of last year, and since that surgery, approximately 98% of these symptoms have appeared or become noticeable, with a clear change in how my body regulates itself compared to before that time. These symptoms have been persistent and are impacting my daily functioning and quality of life. I am trying to understand whether this pattern could be consistent with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome or another form of autonomic dysfunction, and I am seeking guidance on appropriate evaluation, including whether autonomic testing, tilt-table testing, or referral to a specialist would be warranted.

Good morning,

I have experienced some of the same symptoms you are describing.
Have you gone to see a rheumatologist and/or neurologist?
I pray you find answers and a treatment plan that helps!

As far as testing goes, I think you will get more out a visit to a Rheumatologist. Having been to both, that is my opinion. But I did start with my PCP because I trust her. And that goes a long way. Don't be dismayed if it takes a while or several docs. These issues can complicated.
