Need Help Getting To Hotel Post Surgery
I am might have a hysterectomy at Mayo/Rochester on April 14 or 15. I have to travel there alone. Would there be anyone available as my 'companion' to take me back to the hotel from my surgery?
I would be booking a hotel very close to the surgery center and served by shuttle service. I wouldn't need care in the hotel room afterward.

You could have a transport take you to the end of the subway by the siebens welcome desk. Marriott has sent their people to pick you up from there.

I have a few tips to a) help you find a support companion while at Mayo Clinic and b) how to prepare for your first visit.
To get a support companion:
1. Contact Concierge Services.

Phone: 507-538-8438
Email: concierge@mayo.edu
The Concierge Service is a free service to help you prepare for your visit and find your way around. They may have suggestions for caregiver or companion services.
In Rochester we have a few companion services that could accompany you after your appointment. The information for two services that you can find in Rochester is bellow.
Visiting Angels (507)-289-1147
Quality Care (507)-258-4578
Quality Care was started by a former Mayo Clinic staff and understands the needs that patients have when at Mayo Clinic.
2. Contact Volunteer Services

Volunteers are everywhere on campus. While their services may not extend to the level you wish or need, be aware that they are there to help when you are on campus.

Hello @grandefish8. One amazing service we have in Rochester is Quality Care. They are a locally owned/ran business and former Mayo staff that started a service that can help patients with many needs. I will include their information below. They also run a transport service that can get you to and from the clinic buildings. This service is complimentary if you stay at either of the two Kahlers, Residence Inn Downtown or Marriot Hotel (which are all connected with the underground walkway) or would have a small fee if you were in one of the other connecting hotels.
Quality Care

Quality Care provides a broad menu of patient and family supportive services - skilled nursing, check-ins after medical procedures, housekeeping, activities of daily living, companion care, childcare, etc. They also contract with the Kahler hotels to escort patients to and from those four hotels to connect directly with Mayo's escort services (507-910-9379).
