NAFLD (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease): Want to connect with others

I’m looking for anyone dealing with fatty liver

I recently have a CT for my IBS. I was told that I have nonalcoholic fatty liver. Has anyone been diagnosed with such? I am not obese, diabetic but do have hypothyroid and high cholesterol. Seems they are somewhat of a cause. Yet, my blood work states my liver is just fine.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I was told that losing weight and eating a better diet...my liver function is good.

I had NAFL too. I take Milk Thistle/Dandelion supplement, and avoid salty foods, sweets, juice, bread, pasta and sweetened yogurt. I keep my wt down. Eating small meals helps. All that has hugely helped.

What does Milk Thistle/Dandelion do? I do not eat sweets nor use salt but I do love bread. That is my weakness and i also eat small meals. Thanks for your suggestions. Appreciate it.

Weird usually your ALT in blood work is elevated like mine if non alcoholic fatty liver . Strange it’s normal and CT scan showed it ?
Maybe get bloodwork redone and see if ALT has gone up ⬆️?

Was the diagnosis of NAFLD based on the size of your liver in the CT scan? If that was the case, you might look up the diets used prior to bariatric/gastric bypass surgery. That’s the diet used to shrink the liver so it is not in the way during surgery. You just follow it for a few weeks. Every clinic seems to have a slightly different one.

And FYI, most commercial bread has a lot of sodium. And today bread usually has twice the carbs it did years ago.

The size of my liver is normal. Thanks for the tip on the diets you mentioned. I will research them.
