My stomach is round and bloated, and it makes me look pregnant
I have been having problems with my stomach for quite a while now.
My stomach is always round and bloated ,as if i am pregnant.
I have pain most days and have severe cramps and vaginal muscle cramps/contractions during my period. I also bleed a lot.
I eat healthy, take multivitamins and drink water and no sodas or fruit drinks just fruits and veggies. I know most people have flatter stomachs even those who don't eat as well as me.
I have done research and have come to some conclusions that could fit. I think i might have a uterine fibroid or cyst, something that is making my stomach big.
I also have ugly stretchmarks even though i have never been pregnant and am not pregnant, but at times it looks like it.
If anyone has anything similar or knows anything,i would really appreciate the feedback.

Wow! Finally someone who has the same issues! I had my hiatal hernia surgery with Nissen Funoplication in July. A third of my stomach was in my chest. While those symptoms disappeared, I am now so constipated.Miralax wasn't working. Dr, prescribed Lactulose. Even at 4x a day, it isn't working. I git horribly bloated and so gaseous, my hubby won't sit in the same room. I am taking ducolax about 2x a week to clean out my bowels. How did you get your dr. to agree to reverse the Nissen Fundoplication? Does insurance pay for it?
Has the surgery helped with the constipation, bloating and gas? My surgeon did not tell me about any of these potential post surgery problems.
Thanks, Lelia, I ended up having an allergic reaction to the medication and had to stop it. The bloating and distention and constipation are now back. Waiting to hear from the team at St. Mary's as to what happens now. I thought the medication was the answer but I guess not. They said that my intestines were not moving fast enough and the medication would help with that. I was able to eat real food for 1 day but not today. They decided against a feeding tube and said Medicare would not cover nutritional infusion. I'm trying to stay positive but I'm having a hard time today. Elaine
Yes that is what I meant to say. Thanks
Hello, the surgeon that did my Nissen fundoplication surgery promised he could help me. It help for a month and then all hell broke loose. I had the gas, bloating, lower abdominal pain, a cycle of constipation and diarrhea. I didn't just have lower bloating but also up high. About 6 months after surgery I had bad acid reflux again. Before the surgery I asked if it didn't work if it could be undone. I was told sure can. After all the side effects and going back to see him several times he said he wouldn't undo but he wanted to do more surgery. At this point I researched and found another doctor. I had my new surgery a little over a month ago and happy to say no bloating, just a little gas but the gas is more food based. Oh, and he undone the Nissen. I can't eat much over a cup of food at a time so I eat little things 5-6 times a day. The doctor says as time goes on, in about a year or 2 I'll start to eat more regular meals because my stomach will stretch. I haven't felt this good in so long. I still have healing pains in the muscle but that's it. The first surgery I went with another doctor's referral. The second time I did a ton of my own research and went with who felt was best for me. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck to you.
I hope you don't mind that I also reply. I went through much of the same as you. Some of my side effects was due to, they think, hitting the vagus nerve. The doctor that did my Nissen refused to undo it unless I let him do other surgery. I didn't agree with his approach on what to do. I went to this surgeon because I had trust in the doctor that referred me. I did a lot of my own research and found a different doctor. After some more testing it was determined that the Nissen wasn't right for my situation. The new doctor undone the Nissen and fixed me right. I'm a little over a month after this surgery and I haven't felt this good in a long time.
Thank you so much!! I think that is what has happened to me. We've been blaming it on 3 meds I have to take that all cause constipation. I will not go back to the original surgeon as the hospital he is affiliated with was horrendous. Thank you again
Hang in there. They'll come up with something. Have you tried Philips Milk of Magnesia for the constipation? I use that probably 3 times per week. Constipation can cause bloating and distention, especially if you are eating something you can't digest like fructose or lactose.
Oh, I definitely have bloating, distention and gas. Will ash dr, about Milk of Magnesium. Tried lactaid and lactose free milk-made no difference. Will call GI dr again tmw
@claytamos I am not generally involved in this topic but I just wanted to comment on how glad I am that you found a doctor who was able to help you more than your previous doctor had. I have found with some doctors and dentists that they tend to recommend other doctors/dentists that they personally like but actually have little medical information about them. My PCP was recommended by a doctor whom I respect greatly but I really do not think he's as nearly as good as the other doctor thinks he is.
