My Dr wants to switch me to a new medication - Entresto

Posted by momma78 @momma78, Apr 15, 2016

My question is... my Dr wants to switch me to a new medication called Entresto....I am wondering if anyone out there has tried it yet...and what your opinion is of it...any side effects, that personally effected you? Likes / Dislikes...if any??? (I currently take Carvedilol, Lorsartan, Lasix, Pravastin, Eliquis) THANKS
My diagnosis: 37 yrs old - Familial Cardiomyopathy - my EF% have bounced around alot (18-34%), hence I have a ICD - Meditronic Biventrical Defibrulator.

@daler May I ask what your EF was when you started on Entresto? Has your EF improved? I've been on entrusto for 4 months and my EF remains between 20 and 25% which is discouraging but I'm told it can take 6 months or more to see improvement. My cardiologist is now pushing me to get an ICD. I don't know what to do!

@ejbb My Ejection Fraction improved from mid 40’s to mid 60’s one year after I started Entresto. But during that time I also increased my exercising quite a bit during that period as well.
And it’s expensive- even with insurance. The generic version is now available and cost is a lot less.

@beebo Thank you! I am hoping to improve my heart muscle through exercise and continuing on Entresto (generic) - I get it through Signal Care for $36.00+ to avoid an ICD. That scares me but my EF is so low I don't know if my second opinion doctor will agree to an additional 2-3 months on Entresto. Fingers crossed - thank you for your reply - it is encouraging!
