Hi @sunnyside,
First of all, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your father, especially at such a young age.

Both mesothelioma and lung cancer can develop after exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma is almost exclusively the result of asbestos exposure. But the majority of lung cancer cases are linked to tobacco use and environmental factors like radon gas and second-hand smoke. Mesothelioma and lung cancer occur in different areas of the body and the two cancers grow differently.

You can read more detailed information about the 2 cancers at Asbestos.com, a website and advocacy group that helps the victims of asbestos exposure and their loved ones.

My father passed away Dec 5 2014. I have autopsy and its very confusing looks to me he had asbestos and the doctor at Florida cancer said it was but now lawyers are stating  it was lung cancer I will look into the sight you sent me. I know what my father died from just dont know why lawyer is stating otherwise. And the way he responded to me was misleading also so wanted to know all facts.about this illness I appreciate your help like I stated previously Im 45 without either parent all on my own I just want to make sure I am doing what I should be and a support group will definitely help me cause I am so lost and need to surround myself with people in similar situations. Thank you so muchHappy New year! Karen <br />

The best sourse of mesothelioma information for patients, caregivers and bereaved is the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. Websites like Asbestos.com are connected with law firms. The Meso Foundation is the only 501c3 non-profit that focuses on prevention, treatments, cures and public outreach advocacy regarding asbestos and the diseases it causes.
