Mucinex DL 600 mg to thin mucus
I n a previous post, Sue mentioned that she uses with great success Mucinex DL 600 mg extended release to help thin mucus for expulsion. However, I have searched Amazon, Google, EBay, and even the Mucinex manufacturer site and no where can I find the DL formulation you referenced Sue. Could I politely ask for a picture of the box showing exactly what you are purchasing in order to help me find the right formulation. Also, where specifically do you buy it from? Because I am having no luck, not even with the manufacturer. I may have gotten your post incorrect and have been searching for the wrong thing. I may have been spinning my wheels because I didn’t write it down correctly and can’t find the post. I will try anything desperately to help expel the constant 24/7 mucus I have difficulty bringing up. So Sue, can you please put me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

There is a Mucinex DM. Mucinex and Mucinex DM are both over-the-counter medications for chest congestion, but they differ in their active ingredients. Mucinex contains only guaifenesin, an expectorant that helps loosen mucus. Mucinex DM, however, contains both guaifenesin and dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant. This means Mucinex DM helps both loosen mucus and reduce the urge to cough. I would try the Mucinex without the suppressant first if I were you.
I use Mucinex 600 mg. Guaifenesin extended release bi-layer tablets. After I was released from the hospital getting over pneumonia, the Doctor prescribed this Mucinex. It has been very helpful to me and I buy it at my grocery store.

Recommendation from Bronchiectasis and NTM Association. I was also told this. Avoid the one with both ingredients. You do not want to suppress your cough.

It looks like you got a lot of good advice here. The two strengths, 600mg and 1200mg, are a personal preference - I find 600mg works fine for me. There are also a few generic guaifenesin extended release products (extended release is important or they only work for about 4-6 hours.) I have tried them and reacted to the filler or something in them, but they might work for others.
That said, unlike most medications and supplements, I do buy these online, from Amazon or one of the medication sellers, always making sure they are in sealed packages and not expired.
I get my guiafenesen (Mucinex) from Amazon. Hopefully the below link will help you. And, as per google: "Guaifenesin is the active ingredient in Mucinex. Guaifenesin is classified as an expectorant, which means it helps loosen and thin mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up and clear your bronchial passages. "

For those who have taken or are taking Mucinex/Guaifenesin, what are your thoughts for someone with BE/NTM who is non-productive - helpful or no? I don’t have chest congestion and every time a doctor listens to my lungs they say the lungs sound clear. BUT … my CT shows impacted mucus. I do my airway clearance of course but little to nothing comes up. This is not surprising to me as I have no sense of congestion or mucus/sputum in my lungs … and yet it is there on CT. I feel fine so I am cautious about throwing too much at “the problem” and finding myself with unwanted side-effects. Curious what others here think, especially any of my fellow “non-productives” who may have tried Mucinex/Guaifenesin. Thanks.
I'm in same situation. I ordered some over a year ago after a CT showed "mucoid impaction" and I was determined to get it out. It took a few days to come and by then, I'd talked myself out of another med. : )
My PFT's are very good, so for now, I'll just keep nebbing.
