Posted by erodla @erodla, Jul 4, 2022

Hi, I have been trying to wean of metoprolol 25 mg, for a while now( after talking to doctors) by taking 12.5 once a day, but my heart went crazy and I had it so badly both fysical and physical, that I Just had to go back to 25 mg.
I am wondering if anyone else has experienced bad side effects weaning of this medicine? I am also considering changing betablockers to Atenelol, does anyone here have experience changing betablockers?

I’m a Covid long hauler since March 2022 when I caught it the 3rd time. Then I caught a Covid B Variant on May 10th 2022. I had a severe case of it April 20th 2020 for 6 weeks then a mild case December 2021. Yes, I catch everything but money. The first case damaged my brain, kidneys and heart but it took till the 3rd case to become a long hauler. Lost both taste and smell in April 2022 and have never recovered. Still have trouble with my brain, kidneys and heart. So what I’m trying to say is it may not be the medication causing your side affects but left over health issues from the Covid. If you do switch, keep a close eye for any new symptoms. Take care.

Yes i have thougth about it and discussed it with my doctor, so we are aware of that it can be a mix of reasons for my symptoms, included covid, but I am pretty sure that some of my issues Comes from the medicine, but its not easy in these covid times. I am so tired off it, and I am so sorry to hear that you got it 3 times!! I have never heard about anyone that had it so many times. I really hope you Will get better soon and get the best treatment for it. Wish you all the best!

I’ve actually had it 4 times, the 1st & 3rd were the worst. Because I have a compromised immune symptom I was born with caused by genetic issues, I almost died at just 6 months old. Since my nonexistent immune system is so weak, I’ve had 19 lung infections in just 8 years. In 2017, I had the flu, bronchitis and pneumonia all at the same time, it almost killed me. The bottom of my left lung is so scared from the episode, you can see the damage on chest X-rays. So because of the side effects of the vaccines would overwhelm my immune system and most likely kill me, I’ve been advised by 3 of my doctors not to get the shot. Right now I have 7 specialist keeping me alive. So you’re talking with a freak of nature as I like to call myself.
