Hi

Since April, I have had 5 bladder infections never before have. I had a bladder infection in my whole life. I'm not understanding why I keep getting these wondering if anyone else going through menopause has had issues chronically. I have seen a urologist, had a cystoscope in December was told my bladder is healthy.

I am astounded by the number of women who suffer with bladder issues and UTIs after menopause. I recently went on local Estradiol in hopes to ward off vaginal atrophy, that supposedly causes or provokes bladder issues. I’m looking for a local doctor who is up to date on the latest recommendations. I was impired by Urologist Dr. Rachel Rubin ref. Vaginal atrophy, on you tube video episode 54. Let me know your thoughts about her message.

I was having bladder infections every month and this went on for a few years. My Urologist recommended using Estrogen cream and a Estrogen patch. This has worked really well and I now rarely suffer with a bladder infection.

Hi
Well, that would be great. But I was just diagnosed with
DCIS . I am awaiting pathology results they won't allow me to take estrogen. I was on it for 10 years. Since being taken off, I've been having constant bladder issues.

I am very sorry that you have been diagnosed with DCIS. I do know this is a problem with taking estrogen. Sometime ago I was prescribed a low dose of antibiotic to take daily. This may be a suitable alternative for you.

Have you gotten a second opinion? I’m no expert, but the experts that I have heard address the issue of local estrogens, even in those with special issues like you describe. They have studies and numbers to back it up. I think the Dr. I mention upthread specifically talks about it. I’d explore a couple of opinions, to ensure their positions are based on facts and not outdated opinions.

Hi
I watched Dr Rachel rubin. I am going to bring this up with the g.p heat week. The urologist said that I needed to go on them. My gp.. said I couldn't.

That’s tough. I might seek opinions from top rated experts who know the research.

One of my early Endocrinologists was the head of the Endocrinology dept at a large, well known medical school. He did research, conducted clinical trials, was a noted expert in his field, specifically diabetes, so I gave his advice a lot of weight and trusted his opinion. (Still do.) I’m the same way about my cornea specialists.

I hope you find helpful information that you feel comfortable with. Please post what you discover.

I just had a surgery for a diverticulum of the urethra. It was the culpret for many bladder infections. It's been almost 3 weeks and I am still having some urinary incontinence. It happens more when I am standing. The urologist also suggested going on Estradio cream. Has anyone been diagnosed with a diverticulum?
