Medication following Evenity- Reclast vs Prolia?
I have been getting Evenity injections for 8 months and am evaluating a transition to Reclast or Prolia. I am early 50s and have had no issues with Evenity. Can people share their experiences with either? Has anyone done Reclast and then prolia post evenity OR Prolia and then Reclast post Evenity or have people just chosen one path or another?

Hello,
I am new to this group and thread. I’m recently diagnosed with osteoporosis and in my mid 50s. Dr. recommend Tymlos to start. Could you comment on the reason for the switch ti Evenity?
Just diagnosed with Osteoporosis femur neck high risk for fracture. Im thinking of doing Prolia. If I do, will I have to do Reclast also? Thoughts on Prolia?
hi, 1026.
You can't quit Prolia safely because it builds up a supply of acid producing cells that can cause multiple fractures. But some osteoporosis patients are able to continue taking Prolia safely for ten or more years. Reclast is the usual follow-up medication. It has the strongest ability to counteract the cells released after Prolia.
With osteoporosis a person generally will continue taking a sequence of medications because the drugs don't cure an ongoing cause. They restore bone while you are taking them.
There are situations where damage to the bone happens by incident--accident or medication induced where osteoporosis medication can be discontinued.
You might consider Forteo or Tymlos.
Prolia would be my last choice partly because you can know before you take it if you'll have an extreme reaction to it. There is also the risk of osteonecrosis and atypical femur fracture-- though this type of fracture starts in the cortical shaft lower down than your area of vulnerability. And then there is the no-exit problem known as the Prolia trap.
If you use the search box on this site you'll find a full spectrum of responses to Prolia. Some, I'd say most, have a positive experience
I was on Prolia for 1 year. There were no improvements in my Dexa scan afterwards.
