Meatal Stenosis/Urethra Stricture/Enlarged prostate

Dont know how to word this or where to start?
I have had trouble urinating...weak stream...stop and start...dribbles
and frequent urgency for over a yr now.
I am 54 yrs old and have enlarged prostate but my PSA screening is good 1.0.
I finally have seen a uroligist for first time ever.
Heres where it gets emberrassing so bear with me.
My whole life i have had to sit down to urinate to avoid missing the toilet all together due to having 2 holes on the end of my thingy and it was never a problem and i hid it from everyone close to me my whole life and it was no big deal.
Well the Doc is saying i have a Meatal Stenosis and a urethral stricture.
He even threw out the word possible urethra reconstruction depending on the severity of things.
So like a idiot i researched them procedures and now i am scared to death!
The meatal stenosis removal on the tip of my thing while not pleasant seems straight forward.
But the urethra stricture seems a lot more invasive as well as the reconstruction he mentioned.
I was circumsised as a baby and he says the meatal stenosis is a problem
from being circumsised.
For whatever reason my folks who are gone now never had it addressed and i never remember it being brought up.
I just have always urinated sitting down...I don't know if i was taught as a youngster or how it all came about?
Has anyone on here had any of the procedures or problems i have listed and how did it go?
I have a follow up on the 24TH of this month and have a lot of questions for the doctor after researching things.
I remember him saying the meatal stenosis could be lasered unless it went too deep but the rest is a blur.
It would be nice to urinate standing up after all these years.
Any advice or questions i should be asking the doc as well as your own personal experiences on any of these procedures would be greatly appreciated.
Hopefully i am scared of the unknown and what i watched on you tube.
Be honest with me please as i know i will be wearing a urine bag after for awhile but i would like to know what to expect pain wise?
Thank you

@da69, I'm so glad that you chose to see a specialist and that you wrote for thoughts and experiences of others here. Searching on the internet can be informative, but also scary. I know you're making a list of questions. Here are some of the questions I would want to ask:

What is the predicted outcome of surgery?
What are the risks?
How will post-operative pain be managed?
Will I urinate normally after treatment?
How long will I need the temporary catheter?
What can I do pre and post-operation to improve my recovery?

I'm also tagging a few additional members like @jakedduck1 @jimb1950 @predictable @upstatephil to see if they have experiences to add, especially regarding recovery and pain levels, to help you prepare for your upcoming consult.
