Posted by @barbwire2, Nov 17, 2016

Wondering what will be my next option after they removed lots of malignant polyps in my stomach.

@barbwire2 I see that you just joined Mayo Connect, let me welcome you to this online support group. You are asking about malignant stomach polyps. I’m sure that is frightening for you. What has your doctor said regarding this? Has a copy of the biopsy report been provided to you? If not, ask for a copy. If you are able to share a little more information about the type of malignancy, someone in the Mayo Connect Community might have some info to share with you regarding their experience. Keep in touch, I know that you will find support and encouragement here.

Thank you I will request a copy of the report. Dr. Hellan at Kettering Hospital is the one viewing my tests done and plans on trying meds to help with the rest of polyps and if that doesn’t work part of stomach would be removed.

@barbwire2 I’ll certainly pray that your doctor will find just the right treatment. I have had recurring neuroendocrine tumors NETs (also called carcinoids) in the duodenal bulb. NETs are very rare tumors (on the orphan disease list) and are also very slow growing (that is good news). Since 2003, I have had three surgeries, the most recent was this year and it was done at the University of Michigan, endoscopically as an outpatient. My previous surgeries had been done with another hospital system and it was a major surgery with a long hospital stay. It was at that time that I connected with the Mayo Community and it’s been just great. I know that this is a great online patient support group. Keep in touch, we will walk with you through this “healing journey.”

If I could ask a question or two, how were these polyps diagnosed? Were you having symptoms? Best wishes!
