I wish the same for you too! Keep in touch and let me know how you continue to improve. Grandbabies are a blessing. I only have two - 6 and 3 - but our daughter is trying for a third. How exciting to have a new grandbaby. Take care and, once again, thanks for reaching out.

Auto-Immune Hepatitis and ITP
My 24 yr old son developed AIH mere weeks after booster shot. He now also has ITP and receiving platelet infusions along with steroids.
They can't do bone marrow biopsy because platelet levels keep dropping/won't stabilize. Is there medication to increase platelets?

Hi @leilab1, you may find some helpful ways to increase platelet counts in these 2 discussion related to thrombocytopeniap purpura (ITP)

- Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP): What helps? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/idiopathic-thrombocytopenia-prpura-itp/
- What foods or supplements help increase Low platelets? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/low-platelets-5/

You're right to be informed about medications that may cause damage or undue stress on the liver. You don't want to help one issue and worsen the other. Are the infusions and steroids helping?

I have ITP and MDS. The ITP is what affects my platelets. I have had this for 7yrs. I am low risk MDS. my platelets run around 33 to 40and no treatments. They have even dropped to 20 when I had an infection and put on rounds of antibiotics. I take papaya leaf extract and wheatgrass and it brings my platelets up. You can find them on Amazon. Also papaya leaf tea. So
It is a slow progress but that’s ok. I need hip and knee surgery so they tried platelet transfusions and they didn’t work. They put me on steroids and my platelets shot up to 80 and I still wasn’t finished the steroids. I had 2 days left out of 5. So I can have the surgery. That is when they diagnosed me with ITP. Not a fan of steroids but will take them for surgery and then stop.

Thanks for the information. My son has a platelet count of five. He's getting transfusions every other day. His bone marrow biopsy revealed that he has a plastic anemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. I wish you well on your journey.

I will pray for your son. I hope you are with a hospital if excellence in your area. Your son is young snd bone marrow transplants are very successful. I am sure he will do well and look back at all of this one day.

Do you have a specific brand you recommend for both?

I use Organic traditions for the Wheatgrass juice powder which you can get on Amazon and Herbal Goodness for the Papaya leaf extract. This is quite expensive. $120.00 (60) capsules. Read all the reviews. You can also
Get the liquid very expensive. I noticed there is a new brand called Jaan Papaya leaf. Capsules as well $54.50 for 60 tablets. I might try it when I run out. This is all on Amazon as well. If you Google how to raise platelets naturally they give you a list of super foods as well. My hematologist is fine with me taking these because my platelets went up. I hope this has been of some help. God bless!!!

Thanks for the hug. It sounds like we're in the same boat because my son has platelet count of five as well and transfusions every other day. This is been going on for 3 weeks now. He is also battling a series of migraine headaches which don't seem to respond to any of the medications that they have tried. They have not yet tried the platelet booster medication. I am currently battling my own health issues and can't be with my son every day as I would wish. I am praying for a miracle.
