Low blood pressure and fainting
My 20 year old daughter has experienced low blood pressure and episodes of presyncope and/or fainting and dizziness for the past few years. When she has these episodes, she becomes pail, lethargic and can barely eat. She has had blood work, thyroid check, table top test (for POTS), etc. with no resolution. The fainting can come at any time and has occurred at her place of work and while driving. The doctors state that she has always experienced low blood sugar and to add salt to her diet. I hope someone may have some suggestions as I am beyond upset with the answers we are receiving.

Is she on a Beta Blocker? It turns out that is why I was fainting
Hi there
My low pressure and dizziness stopped when I 1/2 and stopped bisoprolol altogether.
But I an also taking Diltiazem 120mg CD HCL which also regulates my Rapid H/R and slight high BP.
The same thing happened when I was taking Metopolol in 2000s. After 1 year to 18 months.
But it could be caused by her periods. Iron level, or B12 level woth folic acid. This test is outside a normal blood test. I used to pale and almost drop within the first 24 hours of my period.
The Gynocologist recommended Brufen - takem before by at least 24 hours of start. Ifiprofen is now the equivalent. It solved it. Pain can do it.
Yes, low on sugar - glucose could do it also. A bottle made up of water, glucose and salt - an electrolyte replacement drink could help.
Others say if you have low blood pressure MOVE. Running on the spot.

I have low blood pressure and fainting. Had many tests for it. I faint sometimes up to 20 times a day. After many years I was finally diagnosed with neurally mediated syncope, a fancy new name for vasovagal syncope. There is no "cure", but there are meds that can help. I was put on fludrocortisone to raise my blood pressure. They also suggest 3 liters of water and 9 grams of salt daily. The fludrocortisone has helped a lot. The Dr. say if I can get my episodes down to twice year that would be about the best I can do. Its very hard to determine the root cause. There is a clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center - Autonomic Dysfunction Clinic that may help her. Get a referral there and see if they will see her. There are some supplements also. Other have had success with Astragalus, I have started on it for last two months and have not fainted again yet but the jury is still out. My episodes have reduced but not gone away. Good luck. Its an awful thing to have and the feeling you get while fainting is so bad. I have had to go to the ER twice with it. If it goes to far, you can go into convulsions that mimic seizures. Whirpool baths have helped me too.
