Looking for help managing long Covid

Posted by catheaven @catheaven, 18 hours ago

Hello,

I had both Pfizer vaccines in Feb and March of 2021 then got what I believe to be Covid in September that same year. During that time, I experienced heavy coughing and heavy sneezing with sharp, needle-like sensation throughout my chest and back when I sneezed. I thought it was some kind of Pneumonia but many doctors since have told me otherwise and resort to symptoms of Chostochondritis and Pleurisy. I have had X-rays and 2 CT scans but they always come up clean which is good. My pulmonologist had me do a Pulmonary Function Test which also came back good regarding lung performance. So I am now my wits end! I have tried different inflammation supplements and even different forms of magnesium to try to calm my body. Pain medications help like meloxicam but they have too many severe side effects for me to keep taking them long term. Every day I experience this dull pain in my chest and back. Both areas are very warm to touch so it feels like constant inflammation that never goes away from when I wake up to when I sleep. The sides of my ribs get inflamed constantly and certain muscles in my back feel hard like there’s really tough knots in my back. Have had massages since but nothing helps. The only thing that gives consistent relief is icing. Please if anyone has anything with minimal side effects or a remedy please let me know. Thank you.

Your symptoms are very similar to mine. Had COVID July 2020. Developed pericarditis, irregular heart beats. Burning chest. This lasted about 8 months. Had Echo stress, pulmonary function negative.
CRP- 17. Inflammation. Medrol pack given with some relief.
But the supplement that helped was MSM and glucosamine. If I stopped taking them for one day. The chest burning would come back. I had covid vaccine Moderna Jan 2021. Nurse that was required to get vaccine.
Got covid July 2022, Dec 2023
Breast cancer Feb 2025. Diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. Before 2020 I had no medical problems.
Hope this helps you. Take care.
