Looking for alternative treatment for anxiety disorder.

Posted by Jerry @jbgeorge, 15 hours ago

I'm 58 an Army Veteran and have been suffering with severe mental health problems since 1989. Been misdiagnosed over and over. Thousands of pills. Of at least 20 different From thorazine prolixin haldol currently gabapentin and Cymbalta and my anxiety is still it's just off the charts so I'm exploring anything desperately looking for something that will work I'm tired of suffocating.

So sorry for how you feel, and thank you for your service. People who have not been there and know it first hand really can't help, as you may have found out. Do you have connections with others in your situation who can hang in there with you and help?
On these chats people say micro dosing works. You might look into that.
Good luck🙏

Have you had genetic testing to see what antidepressants may work with your body chemistry. It is more readily available. Just a thought. Hang in there and fingers crossed something works.

Sorry to hear you have been struggling for so long with little relief. Here are some ideas off the top of my head as someone who has also struggled with anxiety:

1) therapy such as CBT
2) neuromodulation device such as Alpha-Stim; I’ve heard these are very popular at the VA so maybe it would be easy to get covered by insurance for you
3) natural supplement Silexan, which is pharmaceutical grade lavender oil that you take as a capsule - shown to be just as effective for anxiety as prescription Rx, with no side effects to speak of. Some evidence for efficacy in MDD as well.
4) yoga, meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, diaphragmatic breathing - any of those sound doable?

Keep us posted and hope you feel better soon.
