Long term use of Effexor (Venlafaxine)

I saw a post on withdrawing from Effexor and followed it because I am on that medication. I was looking for reasons people stopped the medication but really could not find anything other than personal preference. I am concerned that there may be detrimental effects from using this medication for a long time. Does anyone have any information on this issue? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, @2011panc - since you are taking venlafaxine (Effexor) and are trying to better understand why some people stop taking it and whether there are long-term detrimental effects, I'd like to bring in some members who may have some experience and thoughts, like @catamite @mdw123 @lauriebyoga @texasduchess @nam47. @gailb may also have some thoughts to share.
