Lone caregiver: looking to talk about cats, books, music, food, more..
Hello,
I'm a member with the caregivers but would like to hopefully find a couple of people to talk to about cats, books, music, food - most everything under the sun. Thanks🙏🪻

@bigmaya This is a lovely idea. I am not currently a caregiver but I was for a few years for my father.
I grew up with cats and dogs. My mother loved animals and often brought in stray dogs and cats to our home. For many years I lived in rentals where dogs and cats were not allowed. About 30 years ago I realized I could now adopt so I brought one cat, then another, and then another. Those three cats are no longer with me but I have placed their framed photos around the house along with the dogs who are no longer with me.
I have a soft place for cats and right now we have two senior cats who are in very good health. I named one of them, Minnie the Moocher (Moochie or Mooch, for short). When we were trying to come up with a name this came to me one day when she was on the chair next to me while I was eating. She kept swiping at my hand when I had food and I said “You are such a moocher”. There! That’s the name. She came to us as a foster from our local shelter. You know the rest. She never left and is still here trying to get her own way. Moochie is a tortoiseshell and typifies the term “tortitude”.

2 ReactionsHello😺
Yeah, them felines... used to have just one, once... but we stopped counting long ago. Our first was Moish, a 16 pounds heavy, spoiled rotten and adorable shelter cat. Now we are owned by some 27, the strays coming over for a meal, drink and rest in the garden, not included. As the saying goes, you're a nobody until you've been ignored by a cat😼

2 ReactionsHi bigmaya!
Have you seen the section here on Mayo called "How about a laugh"? Reading the posts there really cheers me up!
Maybe one of the volunteers can explain how to navigate to find it. I can't! I'm not great at this tech stuff.
You have a good day now 🙂

2 ReactionsHaha! I love that! “You’re a nobody until you’ve been ignored by a cat.”
While I grew up with a longtime dog, my husband and I opted for cats almost our whole married life (almost 38 years now.) Ironically, we ended up with3 sets of cats where they were true brother and sister, and the male was always orange, and the female was always black, with a little white. We named one of the males “Edward” and all he needed was to eat, and sit upright in a chair! Haha 😂. He passed away by his food bowl.

4 ReactionsNot too long ago I finished a months long stretch where I read every day. Cozy mysteries, ROM COMS, historical mysteries. Suddenly I couldn't read a paragraph much less a whole book.
Not to worry, this has happened before and I need to work on it - usually start with a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book and that puts me back on track.
In the meantime I pick a topic I want to know more about then read pert articles or research papers pertaining to the subject.
I'm rattling on. What do you like to read?
