Light yellow mucus with tiny little yellow balls. Is this a flare?

Posted by healthybon @healthybon, Mar 10, 2023

A couple days ago, since I’ve been using the flutter valve, I have been coughing up a very small amount of light yellow mucus with an occasional tiny, yellow ball in it. Also, clear thick sticky mucus!
I notice I am getting a little breathless too. My pulmonary prescribed prednisone, 10 mg for 10 days.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Will it get better? Is it a flare? I appreciate hearing from you all about this. Thanks Bon

i get yellow balls almost every day and if you are getting them out..you are ahead of the game. with the lung disease we have, THE MOST IMPORTANT AND THE BEST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO ON A DAILY BASIS IS GETS THOSE BALLS OUT. THE BACTERIA WILL THEN HAVE NOWHERE TO CALL HOME...WHICH FENDS OFF INFECTION......

DAILY EXERCISE IS ALSO IMPORTANT! HAPPY TO HELP,,, ANY TIME BON

I now have a standing order at the lab for sputum samples. I take a couple of sputum sample cups home to have on hand when I think I might be getting an infection, so I can easily drop them off anytime to get them checked for infection. Every time I have suspected, I am ill and my mucus changes from clear to even light yellow, I have pseudomonas and Dr calls in prescription. That way I don't have to wait to get in to see the doctor. This has been occurring every 3 to 4 months for me. I feel like I am never fully regaining my strength before I get another infection. That is why I am going to NJH at end of August to find out why so many infections and what to do about it.
