Lichen planus
I was diagnosed about two yrs ago with lichen planus an auto imune disease they say it is very rare and not contagious yet my younger brother has it also. I have the skin lichen planus as well as oral lichen planus which affects my gums, cheeks, and tongue. It is very , very painful. I had a very large back surgery in April and I got lichen planus sores on my back as a result of the trauma from surgery my incision that is twenty inches long healed but my sores from lichen planus are still open. I don't know how to get them to heal and right now I have just developed an outbreak in my mouth. The pain is so deep in the nerves that I feel like my teeth are going to explode and I can feel my pulse under my teeth. I can't explain the pain and I am begging for someone to tell me if they found anything that helps with the pain. Also I never heard of lichen planus , what can I expect from this disease? How often will I have outbreaks? will it ever go away? Should I have my teeth pulled out or will dentures make it even worse? Not too many doctors seem to know much if anything about this auto imune disease.

@sadea0208 Hi also OLP and ELP and lichen sclerosus. I believe it's all the overexposure to chemicals and meds for some of us. At least the OLP and ELP was drug induced per my rheumatologist on hypertensive meds. My list is too exhaustive to print here of what the other suspected drugs were. my advice to anyone, look up your drugs for possible DIL (drug induced lupus).

Hi, I wish there was a concrete answer to the cause of this, and a cure! I too, have been on a constant train of RX medications my entire life! I don't recall a time in my life when I wasn't on them. Who knows what the cause is to this disease. All I know is that I wish I knew of the cure!!

1 Reaction@sadea0208 sadly it is an autoimmune condition without a cure, and only can be controlled by medication.
@rashida
Unfortunately so!
I have a lifetime of health problems. I'm happy to be on this earth with my family and friends! I feel so fortunate to be here.
Take care 💗

1 ReactionFor skin lichen planus, I've heard people having success with Lisepten. Don't use it orally, but for skin I've heard great things about it. While I seem to collect autoimmune conditions, I've skipped this one so far. Best wishes to you in your quest for relief.
Sorry that you are having such awful pain with Lichen Planus. My hygenist suggested FYGG toothpaste. I ordered it online. It is a prebiotic toothpast in different flavors. Was using Dexamethasome elixir for years and when that didn't seem to work my doctor suggested Clobetasol Proionate 0.05% ointment which works wonders. Started out with LC on my hips and progressed up my back which I used Clobetasol cream. Now it is oral and labial. I do not rinse my mouth after brushing with BYGG toothpaste. Hope this helps.
@sadea0208 Indeed. I hope that biomeds will one day help us. There needs to be more study of women in general - and this in particular!
