Leg and foot cramps

Posted by @beckym in Bones, Joints & Muscles, Nov 10, 2012

I have been experiencing leg and foot cramps for several months now. They are extremely painful! In the early mornings, especially, and while still in bed, the muscles in my legs start "popping" or "bouncing" and if I don't get up, I more than likely will begin experiencing cramping. For a while - before this began - I was getting B12 shots once every week for about 6 months. The same dr. who had me begin the shots later told me that B12 can cause leg cramps...sigh... I stopped getting the B12 shots as soon as I heard that, but the cramping hasn't stopped...AT ALL! I do take a Calcium/Magnesium/Potassium supplement, before going to bed, every night and it did help for a while, but the cramps are back. Ugh! My THANKS to anyone who can shed some light and possibly advise! God bless you!

My understanding is that lack of vitamin B can cause nerve damage. Too much vitamin B6 can cause numbness and tingling of the feet. Poor circulation may be a problem too. Talk to your doctor to see if you need nerve conduction test. Dehydration can be the cause of cramping and pain. See if hot/ cold therapy help or massage therapy can reduce the problem. Feel well.
