Kidney stones: Is surgery necessary?

My doctor says I have to have surgery for my three kidney stones I have they all range from 2 to 3 cm in size people that I’ve talked to said that they could be blasted by ultrasound and then I would be able to pass them this doctor says that I need surgery what do you think

Yes general anesthesia and I spent the night. I don't remember if I always stayed over though. I don't remember any pain after although I know somepeople have some pain as some of the fragments pass Maybe I was thinking about the horrible pain before so if I did have any pain it must have been negligible.
I had blood for a day or two.
I don't know anything about what the procedure is regarding blood thinners. I've never taken them.
