Kidney-pancreas transplant received monoclonal antibodies
Before kidney-pancreas transplant last year, unable to get vaccinated.. Afterwards, though never had Covid, blood work showed antibodies present! Monoclonal antibodies were given . wondering if all the problems with the transplant are the result of the therapy.

@athenalee @hello1234 may be able to share their experiences with monoclonal antibody treatment and transplant.
Veekay, while we wait for others to respond, I'd like to learn a bit more about you. You said that you never had COVID and were not able to get vaccinated but your bloodwork showed that you had antibodies. Is it possible that you were infected with COVID but that you were asymptomatic? When did you have your transplant? What problems are you experiencing post transplant?
Hello @veekay808 and thanks Colleen. I am probably not the best source of information on the topic due to my particular health issues, but here’s my experience. I’m 1.5 years out from my liver transplant. I came down with Covid on January 12 and received monoclonal antibody treatment on January 19. I was super ill prior to the infusion and for two days afterwards, and then slowly better.
I have autoimmune disease caused neuropathy. I had an increase in neuropathy symptoms following the Covid vaccinations. I had a similar, but worse reaction, following the monoclonal antibodies, which has not subsided. This was not unexpected, as the spike in antibody development in my body caused a reaction in my autoimmune disease. I am, however, very grateful to have received the monoclonal antibodies to keep me out of the hospital. And, hopefully, offer protection for a couple months, as I work five days a week in a municipal office.
Have you discussed your symptoms with your team? My team said there shouldn’t be any reaction. But, we’re all certainly different. There are also reactions that we may have to our meds, particularly as our bodies adjust to them. There are excellent Connect discussions and blogs about this. However, for your specific concerns, it’s best to consult your team.
Best wishes and congrats on your transplant!
Just wondering, have you asked your transplant team if you could have received the antibodies through your donated kidney & pancreas?
I am just over a year out from kidney transplant and bilateral nephrectomy due to PKD. Welcome to Connect!
