While we’re waiting for other members to add their experiences with kid friendly lodging and activities, I recommend contacting the free Concierge Services at Mayo Clinic. The staff at the concierge desk can help with hotel/lodging recommendations, according to your wishes of proximity, price and space requirements. Here is how you can contact them:

* Phone: 507-538-8438
* Live Chat: https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide
* Email: concierge@mayo.edu
@lmindela can tell you more.

Here’s a map of the downtown campus area that might help you in planning where to stay.

@bcompson11, may I ask, are you the patient and your family is coming with you? Or is your child the patient? Will you need specific services while you are there, like child care while you're at appointments? Will you have a car?

Are you asking about Rochester, MN Mayo? I am from Rochester, so do not stay at local hotels. I do know that Best Western in Rochester has a mini water park that some people use for a getaway with kids. It is about 3 miles from Mayo's downtown campus.

There are hotels downtown that have pools.

Hi @bcompson11 , I don’t know what your are visiting Rochester for or for how long, but I had heart surgery there and we took our 2 kids (10&13) at the time and my sister and mom- I got a suite at the Aspen Suites hotel. It worked really well for us. We didn’t have to rent a car or anything because there was shuttles available to stores and other places. We had a small kitchen in the room so that they didn’t have to eat out all the time. And being able to have the kids just walk back and forth across the street was a big convenience- because it was literally across the street from St Marys. In fact when I was discharged I walked to the room. My surgery was all day, so they were able to go back and forth and easily. We were there for 11 days. We also looked at AirBnb but the location of this hotel was perfect for our needs. I honestly don’t know about the pool or if they have one though. Best wishes

@jeanern01 I have stayed at Aspen Suites too and love the convenience to St. Mary's Hospital. They do have a pool. It was under renovation a few years ago when I as there, but since I was the surgical patient, I could not have used the pool.

I have stayed at Kahler Grand-has pool, Kahler Inn and Suites-has pool, Brentwood-no pool, Double Tree-has pool, and the Marriott-has pool, but they closed it while there. You won’t find any hot tubs open right now. Three places had them and all closed.
