Posted by Lorena Egas @lorena1egas, Mar 18, 2021

I am awake at night with green keto diet. Has anybody stabilize mood on green keto diet? I am 3 months and now just started to loose weight. I am using 100 mg zoloft so I dont know if its too much energy together. Anyone on keto experience some mood improve?

Eating lower carb and healthier fats (LCHF) has boosted my energy and brain power too. My biggest reason for shifting my eating habits (I'm not strictly keto by the way) was to promote better sleep. And so far practicing healthier sleep habits (i.e., no eating 2 hours before bed, no screen time an hour or more before bed, consistent bed and rise times, etc), exercising, along with a LCHF diet have helped me improve my sleep. This past week, however, I had extra stress that knocked me off my good sleep streak. But I'm confident that I'll get back on track now that most of the issues are resolving and my resilience is better.

Yes, my mood has vastly improved on LCHF. I look forward to getting out of bed and going to a walk or slow jog every morning. I am not a medical professional and I'm not on any mood improving medication, therefore not equipped to answer your question about Zoloft. Are you able to talk to your prescribing doctor about the health changes you've made and discuss the possibility of a medication change?

Energy is great during the day; not so great at 3 AM. What other things do you do to help calm your energy to sleep better?

@lorena1egas -- I've been following a strict ketogenic diet for about six months now (<20g total carbs per day), and I definitely experience improved mood. In fact, my friends tell me how much happier I look and that I'm glowing.

Thanks for your answer. I’ve been quite euphoric this last month, no mood issues, sleep quality and brain sharp, extra energy for everything. Some stress and 2 nights bad sleep and started down spiral with anxiety (the opposite effect). I’m trying to get in track again now for a week getting into the keto mode to get back into that energetic dynamic way. I’ve read about beta-hydroxybutyrate or BHB a ketone responsible for the euphoric feeling. Wish to be there again or at least without this extra anxiety. Have you get back on track with your sleep? Any suggestion thanks

Hi Rebecca my mood was the best last month since starting to make gradually changes until full keto. I felt quite euphoric, brain sharp, extra energy and quality sleep. I’ve read that oxitocyn is a well-being hormone and that you need to get down your cortisol to get the best of green keto diet effects on quality of life. I haven’t try fasting. But my anxiety returned and fatigue. I am blaming poor stress dealing and disrupted sleep. Have you experienced some downfall while doing this program. Do you recommend some links or advices to get back on track? Thanks

My personal recommendation is the Continuously Keto course by Dr. Annette Bosworth (Dr. Boz) as well as her books. She also has a robust YouTube channel with 200+ videos. https://bozmd.com/
