Joint pain and swelling after doxycyclene, Lyme disease

Posted by heatherdawn1979 @heatherdawn1979, May 12, 2023

I had a tick bite in June 2021, rash appeared, and I was treated with doxycyclene. This winter my joints were painful and began swelling. Tested positive and doxycyclene again. Completed 28 days about 2 wks ago and the pain is creeping back. Any suggestions appreciated.

@heatherdawn1979 I would suggest that since has been going on 2 years now, that you go back to your doctor and for further check up. And you might also ask for a referral to a Lyme disease specialist. This organization may be able to help you.

It's always miserable to find out that what we though was cured was really just hiding! You might find this ongoing Mayo Connect discussion about Lyme disease to be helpful. Lori (@loribmt) has provided some helpful resources.

Good luck with your continued treatment. It took my niece several years to completely recover, and though she has been symptom free for a while now, she is always watchful in case the symptoms come back.

I can't get in to see a rheumatologist from the metro north until November. I live in central Mn. I will check the link you sent. Thank you.
