@heatherdawn1979 I would suggest that since has been going on 2 years now, that you go back to your doctor and for further check up. And you might also ask for a referral to a Lyme disease specialist. This organization may be able to help you.

Good luck with your continued treatment. It took my niece several years to completely recover, and though she has been symptom free for a while now, she is always watchful in case the symptoms come back.

@becsbuddy Doxy and Amox failed me. Cefuroxime worked.

@sherikm1 I’m so happy to hear from you and to know that you got the problem solved! For now, that is. If your symptoms reappear, call the same doctor for a physical and possibly more medication. Lyme disease is just like autoimmune disease—hard to diagnose and hard to treat.
Did you see an infectious disease doctor? I won’t ask any more questions! I’m just glad that you’re better and that you were nice enough to let me know!

I have seen two family doctors and orthopedics does my knee injections once every 3 months for now. I used Ceferoxime 500mg for two weeks. Loritadine 10mg for chest pain and breathing problems.

oral Biaxin for a couple of years daily, IV Rocephin for 8 months daily. Chronic mono arthritis in the knee, 10 fluid draws and injections in a 12 month period, surgery for a partial synovectomy. None of this helped except for the IV Rocephin. There is no cure but there is a remission of symptoms.

I got treated for long term Lyme over 30 years ago. Doxy and Probenicid for over a year. My doctor was a Lyme expert at that time when most doctors did not believe in long term Lyme. His daughter caught Lyme so he was motivated and was a Lyme warrior.
On the combo of drugs, I would get a Herxheimer reaction daily from 5pm to 9pm (aches, pain, fever for hours then okay until the next day). We just kept at the bugs until no Herx anymore. Over a year. No problems since - at least that I could 100% say was Lyme. I had intermittent tachycardia for 30 years, several bell’s palsies leaving me with a permanent partial paralysis, but it wasn’t until the arthritis, pain and swelling that wasn’t arthritis that led me to Lyme.
I had a tick bite that was diagnosed as RMSF long before they even knew about Lyme. I think it was pregnancy that finally let the Lyme bloom to the extent it did. Since I was a child when I was first bitten, I don’t know what they treated me with. If it wasn’t the ridiculousness that I had RMSF with no mountains around, I probably would not have remembered the odd diagnosis nor the time I got a “rock” stuck in my eyebrow after sleeping outside on blankets. I still have a scar where they dug it out.
Do you get a Herx reaction? If so, keep treating.
I also developed an aversion and nauseousness to red meat around that time and have avoided red meat for 55 years.
If you get one tick disease, there is a good possibility you have more than one tick disease.
